The Pittsburg Lady Pirates captured back-to-back softball wins last week to remain in contention for a playoff spot with the regular season coming to a close this week. After a tough 13-0 loss to Sulphur Springs on Monday, Coach Madison Sansom’s squad pulled out a 5-4 walk-off win over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday and then smashed Paris on Friday night, 22-0.
The Pittsburg baseball team earned a split with North Lamar last week as the Pirates jockey for playoff positioning down the stretch. Coach Juan Perez’s Pirates fell to the visiting Panthers 8-5 on Tuesday, Apr. 8, but rebounded with a nail-biting 4-3 win at North Lamar on Friday, Apr. 11.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirate track & field team tallied 76 points to place fourth in the varsity girls division of the District 14-4A Track & Field Championships held in Paris last week while the Pirate varsity boys placed fifth with 59 points. Pleasant Grove won both team titles with the girls tallying 156 points and the boys garnering 169 points.
