The Pittsburg varsity girls track & field team racked up 89 points to place second in the team standings at the Winnsboro Rugged Red Relays on Feb. 27, just one point behind team point champion Tyler Heat’s 90 points.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirates ran into a buzzsaw on Tuesday night in Canton as Sunnyvale ran away with a 94-27 bi-district victory. The loss ended the Lady Pirates season at 25-8 while the Lady Raiders followed that victory up with a 43-28 win over Canton in area to improve to 30-4 overall.
Pittsburg ISD recently congratulated four students on their signing commitments to play college football. These students were Xzaydeon Doddy, Bethel College; JR Thompson, Southern Arkansas University; Kaiden Butler, Kilgore College; and Marcus Morton, Southern Arkansas University.
The Pittsburg Pirate soccer team took over the top spot in District 13-4A this past Friday night with a 4-2 shootout victory in Sulphur Springs after the teams battled to a 1-1 draw in regulation. It was the third shootout win for Pittsburg this season in three attempts.
