Pittsburg Honors Native Sons with Arbor Day Tree Planting

On Friday, April 24, 2026, Arbor Day, a pecan tree was planted on the grounds of the Douglass Alumni Center, in Pittsburg. The tree was planted in honor of the olympic runner and professional football player, Homer Jones, who was a native of Pittsburg Texas. The second tag was placed on the tree in honor of James Edward Rogers, a native of Pittsburg, who was instrumental in initiating the Douglass Alumni Center.
