The building at 113 Quitman, which used to be the old A & P Grocery Store, had been demolished the first part of the week of May 11, 2026. That construction debris was used as a platform to raise the huge Cleve Batt Construction excavator higher in the air so it could take down the two-story building next door.
On Thursday, May 28, at noon, in the NTCC Hanson Sewell Pittsburg campus meeting room, the Lions Club met for their weekly meeting. There were twelve members in attendance.
On May 14, the Pittsburg Lions Club met at noon in the NTCC Hanson Sewell Center meeting room. Kathy Carpenter with Century 21 Premier Properties introduced Rob and Andrea Franzese, who own the Jefferson Street store front called “What’s In Store”. It is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization tasked to help individuals with barriers to employment overcome those issues. It is not a job placement organization. Rob and Andrea have over 30 years experience in Human Resources Management, Applied Behavior Analysis, special education (youth and adult), and corporate organizational development. Their vision is to break through barriers to employment and give hope. Services available are vocational rehabilitation, job skills training, interview training, resume training, life skills, volunteer opportunities, prayers warriors, community outreach, and referrals to resources. They would be supplying those services to Camp, Titus, and Upshur counties. People could shop What’s in Store from donated items they have received. People can donate items to the store. And people can volunteer for What’s in Store.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 8:35 am, Commissioners Court was called to order by County Judge A J Mason. Commissioners Jed Hefner, from Precinct 1, Tommy Rozell, from Precinct 2, Perry Weeks from Precinct 3, and Steve Weeks, from Precinct 4, were in attendance. There were no public comments or requests for information on non-agenda items. Approved were the bills, and any claims. and Commissioners Court Minutes from the last meeting on May 13.
