Honey Bees on Camelia in November?

Honey bees are opportunists. They forage first from the most concentrated nectar sources and highest protein content pollen they can find. However, in late October and early November the variety of blooms available is slim pickings. Our weather has been a bit odd, so some plants have bloomed earlier or later than the horticultural calendar says is normal.

Local Lions Club members gathered to celebrate

The Lions Club met Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at noon at the NTCC campus, here in Pittsburg, for the regular weekly meeting. President Mary Collins introduced the guest speaker, Katie Smith, Director of Texas Lions Camp. Katie shared that The Lions Camp, consisting of 550 acres, located in Kerrville, Texas, has expanded its campers this coming 2026 summer to include not only children who are blind, handicapped, have cancer, type I diabetes, and downs syndrome, but now have added autistic children. There are even camping facilities and activities for those families who attend with their child. Ms Smith stated that the enrollment fills up quickly. Pittsburg Lions Club is one of the 850 clubs, in 16 districts, that actively supports Lions Camp and sponsors children every year.
