Mary Collins, President of the Pittsburg Lions Club introduced Marina Garcia-Heredia, City of Pittsburg Economic and Community Development Coordinator, who spoke about the Pittsburg Kite Festival on the last day of Spring Break, March 13. 2026, at Broach Park, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is free, 500 free kites will be handed out, booth spaces are free for vendors who want to show their local crafts, and there will be food trucks stationed in a picnicking area. A kids play area will be set up, and the kite flying will be spread out over three fields.

Rotary hears CASA story

The weekly Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, began with discussion about the Rotary Foundation Banquet in Paris,Texas, on Saturday, February 21. The decision was made to contribute a case of Los Pinos Wine, to include sweet and dry, as the club’s silent auction contribution. Banquet attendees met after the meeting to strategize logistics for attending the banquet.

Pittsburg City Council tackles full agenda Festivals, film promotions, investments, and billboards considered

Monday, at 4:00 p.m., February 9, 2026, the Pittsburg City Council met to go over several agenda items. The Council met quorum with Mayor David Abernathy, City Manager Clint Hardeman, City Secretary, Maricela Fuentes, City Councilmen John Livingston, Larry Hamilton, Todd Diviney, and Patti Ayers. Mayor Pro Tem Councilman Rico Willis was away on other business.

Rotary Club Hosts Debutante Ball Founder as Guest Speaker

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Pittsburg Rotary Club held its regular weekly meeting at noon. The gathering took place in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, situated on Mt Pleasant Road. President Bill Dixon led the meeting and initiated the week’s program by introducing Rotarian Matt Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter, in turn, presented the day’s featured speaker, Jessica Brummell, the owner and operator of the TM Studio Salon Spa, a well-known main street establishment in Pittsburg.
