On Friday, January 23, Linda Harrison received the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) 2026 Teacher of the Year award for District 16. The geographical area for District 16 covers all of Texas and all of Mexico. “District 16 proudly honors and supports its bridge teachers. New players are the lifeblood of the game and the teachers who nurture and prepare them deserve our appreciation. In this spirit, the Teacher of the Year award is given annually to an outstanding District 16 teacher.” (https://district. d16acbl.org) Linda has always enjoyed learning and wanting a new challenge. She learned to play bridge in nursing school and then played socially as work and family responsibilities permitted. She took a 6-week duplicate bridge class in Tyler; Texas, and was ready to continue learning and playing duplicate bridge. “My seasoned instructor, a master of the game, didn’t just teach me how to play. She gave me keys to a new world of bridge.”
