Wow, there is a lot of stuff going on around here these days, and this fall weather is wonderful. There is so much going on, I am just going to do a little scattershooting this week.
Evan Young, a former clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, has been appointed to the Texas Supreme Court by Gov. Greg Abbott. He will replace Justice Eva Guzman, who resigned in June to run for Texas attorney general.
They say that the two constants in life are death and taxes, but I would like to add a couple to the list. The first, and most important, is that we all have a God that loves us, and made a way for us to go to heaven one day.
So on the road toward our God-given destiny not everything is going to be rainbows and roses. No friends, it’s not. There will be trials and tests along the road but do not fear because God will always be there beside you. 1 Peter 5:10 says that suffering will come, but just for a little while. Don’t worry because God has called you and given you a powerful destiny in Him.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell recently died. I first encountered him in the early 70s while stationed in Hawaii. Then, he was the Commanding General of the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks. He had the reputation of being a thorough commander, but I saw a different side of him in an encounter he had with my wife and two boys.
