CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties is pleased to welcome Ashley Dietz and Jennifer Tosh. Ashley and Jennifer took an oath before the Honorable Judge Loughmiller in Camp County on Dec. 21. Ashley and Jennifer completed 30 hours of training and courtroom observation. Ashley and Jennifer are the newest CASA Volunteer who have accepted their first case and are advocating for children that are in the foster care system. CASA volunteers work for the best interest of the child/children making sure they have a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible. CASA volunteers are citizens in our community, just like you, that want to make a difference in a child/children’s lives while they are removed from their families and placed in foster care. The holiday season is coming to an end and many may be heading back to stores for refunds or exchanges. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF) Return Fraud Survey, the retail industry will lose an estimated 13.95 billion to retail fraud in 2020. And while returning an item can be frustrating, particularly if you aren’t aware of the company’s return policy. Better Business Bureau serving Central East Texas (BBB) reminds consumers that in Texas, refund and exchange policies are not required by law so it’s best to know before heading to the counter.

During the month of December, many of our merchants and residents played two Grinch games, Grinch Bingo and Grinch Scavenger Hunt. The Chamber would like to say thank you to participating businesses and to those who played. The winner is of Grinch Bingo was Hunter Calverley and the winner of the Grinch Scavenger Hunt was Lauri Abernathy with daughters Marissa and Lilly.
