Texans urged to roll up their sleeves
Gov. Greg Abbott and other Texas leaders are rolling up their sleeves to get the COVID-19 vaccine and to encourage the public to follow suit.
New Year, new attitude
So, 2020 is coming to an end. What many will consider the worst year ever is about to come to completion. On Jan. 1, we will all wake up with a new set of 365 days to try to make things better.
Prayer gathering
Sunday evening, December 27th, people from various denominations and faith traditions gathered together on the courthouse lawn for the third month in a row to offer prayers for our community and our country. This nonpartisan, non-denominational gathering started spontaneously under the inspiration of a single individual who was distressed by the many challenges our nation and our town has been facing this year. She felt that a gathering, unaligned to any particular focus or group which would lift our community up in prayer was not only necessary but vital to our well-being. She shared this idea with others, and it slowly grew into fruition.
Become a Texas Master Gardener in 2021
Texas Master Gardeners is an educational and volunteer program offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and is open to people of all ages. The program is designed to increase the availability of horticultural information and extend horticultural projects throughout the community. Master Gardeners are members of the local community who take an active interest in their lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens. They are enthusiastic, willing to learn and help others, and able to communicate with a variety of people.
