With district seeding on the line approaching the second half of district play, the Pittsburg Pirate basketball team hoped to finish round one on a high note before the start of round two of district play.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirates hosted a district matchup with a tough Lady Wildcats squad. The Lady Pirates led by double figures in the second half, but a strong surge by the Lady Cats vaulted them into the lead and the girls from Paris went on to win the game by final score of 64-55.
The Pittsburg Wrestling Team competed with Bishop Gorman and Yoeman high schools in a dual tournament on Jan. 25.
PISD honored three young ladies on Jan. 28 before the basketball game against the Paris Lady Wild Cats. Adrilannie Gutierrez, Natalie Styles, and Sanaa Hollins are seniors, and offered their perspective to those with still a few years to go.
The Gilmer Buckeyes and Pittsburg Pirates met on Jan. 15 at the Pittsburg high school gym for a 39-63 loss for the Pirates. Kyleigh Posey made the most points at 13, followed by Sanaa Hollins with two points, and Natalie Styles with 10 points.
