Texans now able to verify identity in-person for unemployment benefit claims at USPS locations
AUSTIN –The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has partnered with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the United States Postal Service (USPS) to offer statewide in-person identity (ID) verification for unemployment benefit claims. Unemployment claimants who were notified by TWC to verify their ID after July 1, 2024, now have the option to go to a participating USPS location to complete the ID verification.
Lung cancer screening key to early detection, treatment
August 1 is World Lung Cancer Day, an annual observance designed to raise awareness of lung cancer, its prevention, early detection and treatment. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States, ahead of breast, pancreatic and colon cancers combined. Per the American Cancer Society, 125,000 deaths occur each year related to lung cancer.
PDBC raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association
This is a follow up about Pittsburg’s local duplicate bridge club (PDBC) to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association. Every year the Alzheimer’s Association designates the longest day of the year to focus on Alzheimer’s. For the past 10 years, American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) has raised $10M. Funds from the game on June 21 and donations from players and others kicked off the Longest Day in Pittsburg. That resulted in raising almost $1150 toward our 2024 goal of $1500.
