4-H’s Show Beats Records
On Saturday, March 7, the 2026 Camp County Youth Show, in the Aubrey Pilgrim Heritage Center, and Ag Exhibition building, 4-Hers and FFAers exceeded the anticipated $120,000 total show amount. Last year the 4-H Camp County Youth Show netted just over $100,000. This year, so far, according to the association treasurer, Staci Lowe, they brought in over $146,500. The final number would not be available for at least another couple of months because folks were doing add-ons (sending extra money) for the show animals.
Art Projects Fly High
The Pittsburg Kite Festival Committee held a coloring competition in advance of the Festival. The City partnered with the local schools providing a drawing of a flying kite. Students would color the picture at school and submit their entries before spring break. There were over 300 entries received and reviewed by the Main Street Committee. The top two pictures for each age division were selected. From this group the Committee then chose the top three colored drawings. Those three entries were placed on the City’s facebook and social media outlets. Members of the local community voted for the first, second, and third place winners. The entries were announced at the Festival on March 20. The first-place winner’s artwork will be featured on the official 2027 Kite Festival T-shirt.
