Northeast Texas Community College has been furthering education since 1985, and the college hosted its 40th Anniversary Picnic on October 4 at the NTCC campus in Mount Pleasant. The celebration featured live music, free food and food trucks, pickleball and cornhole tournaments, a car show, face painting, and more.
The Camp County Commissioners held their regularly scheduled meeting and heard from Niecy Baum, the Community Development Director for the City of Pittsburg. She presented to the commissioners regarding the upcoming Home for the Holidays on December 6. In order for enough time to set up and take down the event, Baum requests street closure from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the event that will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Pittsburg Independent School District held their regular meeting for the month of September and presented Pirate Gold awards to teachers and staff of the Junior High School. Shannara Hashaway was not in attendance, but was still recognized along with Melody Wright, and Peggy Schneider who received these awards.
The Camp County Republicans presented posters to Pittsburg Independent School District on Wednesday, September 17. The posters display the Ten Commandments as found in Exodus 20:3-5 in the Bible and are to be posted in every classroom throughout PISD, totalling 231 classrooms.
