Elizabeth Williams has been a Rotarian for four years and is the Rotary Club’s Food Drive chairperson, putting this year’s program together. She coordinated volunteers, food box recipients, box and food donations, a work space location, and delivery drivers for box delivery to shut-ins.
On December 11, 2025, Christine Nugent, the Athletic Trainer for Pittsburg ISD, notified Kaila Mitike, a student trainer, that she had received recognition as a 2025 Texas Academic All-State recipient. This is the first time a Pittsburg ISD student trainer has received this honor.
Monday night was a full and varied agenda at the December, 2025, monthly meeting of the Pittsburg ISD Board of Directors. Dr. Greg Miller, Board Chair, led, and met quorum with members Mario Willis, Linsey Harwell, Terry Waldrep, Lawrence Cleveland and Vernon Rowe in attendance.
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Pittsburg High School Cheerleaders competed at the first annual Rose City Classic and earned 1st place in the 4A division. This competition served as a practice event as they prepare for the UIL (University Interscholastic League) State Cheer Competition on January 16, at Ft Worth, Texas. Coach Savanna Blalock said “We are proud of the hard work and focus our athletes showed as we continue to build toward our state performance.”
Pittsburg Primary School has 55 doors. This year the Parent Teachers Organization sponsored a competition for the best dressed door. All 55 doors and all of the hallways were decorated. Seventeen doors competed for the prize money of $100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place. Judges came in two groups, to walk the halls with the school tour guides and judge the 17 doors. There were four criteria - theme, festiveness, originality, and skill level. This year’s winners are: first place, Layce McCurley, kindergarten teacher; second place, Wendy Busch, reading intervention; and third place, the campus police officer.
