The pandemic has been difficult for everyone but the seniors in our community have been especially impacted. We know that many seniors in long-term care facilities haven’t seen their loved ones since the pandemic began. Cypress Basin Hospice wanted to show our seniors that they haven’t been forgotten and invited the community to help us create handmade Valentine’s Day cards. Thousands of cards were donated by elementary school children, church groups, home school clubs, and families in the communities we serve. Groups who contributed cards include: the staff and family members of Cypress Basin Hospice, the Mt. Pleasant ISD elementary schools, Mt. Pleasant Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pewitt Elementary in Omaha, Rivercrest Elementary in Talco, Clarksville Elementary, Nash Elementary, Pittsburg Elementary, Ore City Elementary, Gafford Chapel United Methodist Church, Gilmer FFA, Calvary Bible Church AWANA Club, Chapel Hill, Robert E. Hunt Elementary in New Diana, Prairiland ISD, Miller Grove FFA, Como-Pickton Elementary, Mt. Vernon Elementary, Bowie Elementary in Sulphur Springs, Cumby Elementary, Mineola Elementary and Linden Elementary.
