The Blue and the Gold

The Cub Scouts hosted their Blue and Gold Banquet Mar. 26 at the First United Methodist Church Community Center. PISD prepares for an overhaul

The Pittsburg ISD is looking to improve its facilities based on recommendations from an architectural firm hired in the fall of 2021. It has been found that several buildings are in need of repair. The PISD high school--built in 1973--has leaking issues and, according to Superintendent Waldrep, the old restrooms in the high school “are embarrassing.” Over time, calcium build-up in the drains has made the pipes smaller and causing rather severe backup issues. As the pipes are installed within the cement floor, repairing them requires breaking up the cement floor as well.

God’s Closet prepares for spring with an Easter celebration

As God has blessed us with more food and put more needs on our hearts (like wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs to loan out to Seniors and school supplies for kids) we have become more and more crowded inside of God’s Closet. When people hear about the good things happening, they want to clean out and donate more stuff. It’s all a blessing and it takes lots of volunteers and enough space to handle the sheer volume of food & donations on a daily basis. We have waited almost 5 years to expand into our adjacent building, watching the need get more & more pressing. We are buying the Computer Emporium building next door on Mar 31, 2022 and then we will need to empty it and do six months of renovations.
