During their regular meeting on June 1, the Commissioner’s Court discussed a resolution presented by Susan Hamilton regarding a federally administrated plan called the “30 x 30 Land Preservation Goal”. This plan, signed by President Joe Biden on January 27, 2021 directly after taking the office of President, is an attempt to place in permanent conservation 30 percent of American lands and waters by 2030. Receiving tremendous pushback by conservatives from across the nation, this plan has been rebranded as the “America the Beautiful” project. This project has been supported by the Center for American Progress (CAP) which published a report in 2019 titled, “How Much Nature Should America Keep.”
