Joshua Searcy went missing from his residence on FM 993 on July 3 and was found July 8 by county officials. Sheriff Alan Mc- Candless said that though the sheriff ’s office had spoken to multiple people about Searcy, few leads were developed in the days after his disappearance, so a thorough search of the property around his home was conducted.
Governor Greg Abbott announced on July 2 that all residents of Texas were now required by law to wear masks when in public places. He granted exemptions to this for counties with fewer than 20 active cases of COVID-19, and after County Judge AJ Mason filed an attestation with the state, Camp County was exempt.
On July 7, the Texas Education Agency announced their guidelines for reopening Texas schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath emphasized safety and flexibility in his statement regarding the new procedures.
Students, faculty and staff at all 11 Texas A&M System universities across the state will soon have quick and easy access to free testing for COVID-19.
