Nelms speaks at Lions Club

Nelms speaks at Lions Club

Ms. Kaye Nelms, Director of Pittsburg’s Head Start program recently spoke at our Lions Club meeting about her center, its goals, and its purpose. She shared how COVID 19 has impacted them and how it has added double the work for her and her teachers. The Pittsburg Lions Club asked Ms. Nelms for a “wish list” of things that she’d like to have for her center. So this week the Pittsburg Lions Club granted her wish and delivered items like colorful bulletin board paper, and kids books. Thank you Ms. Nelms for the wonderful care and attention you give to the kids at your center. You are appreciated.

Community prayer hosted in Pittsburg

Community prayer hosted in Pittsburg

Sunday evening, Nov. 22, approximately a dozen people from various denominations and faith traditions gathered together on the courthouse lawn to offer prayers for our community and our country. This was the second spontaneous, nonpartisan, non-denominational gathering in as many months. All community members concerned about the divisions and disunity in our country are welcome to these gatherings which are a prayerful focus on what can bring us together as children of one loving and just God. Despite the increasingly cooler weather, Rev. Patrick Lloyd smilingly remarked that if we can come out for football games, we can come out to pray for our community and our country. Plans for another gathering in December are still being discussed.
