Pirates finish 2nd in season-opening tourney

The Pittsburg Pirate basketball team finished second overall at the Quitman Tournament last week. The Pirates defeated Quitman in the semifinals, 54-25, but fell in the title game against Mabank, 35-28. The Pirates had three players named to the All-Tournament team: Rickey “Pooh” Duffey, Dalton Fields and A’Myrion Gholston. Two days after a second place finish at the Quitman Tournament, the PIttsburg Pirates closed 2021 at home on the court at Jack Arnwine Gymnasium by taking on the Daingerfield Tigers.

The Pittsburg Pirates made an impact on their District 8-4A Div. II counterparts throughout the 2021 season. That impact was recognized with the announcement of the All-District Team, announced recently.
