Mason Knight ( freshman) competed at the Regional Wrestling tournament in Frisco on Feb. 11 and 12. He held his own in four out of five matches, placing third which qualified him to advance to the State Tournament in CY-Fair. His one loss was a close contest.
PISD senior and football player Christian Bates signed with Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Feb. 2. Son of Magen Clifton and George Bates, Christian has football in his blood. His father was a member of the celebrated PISD football team of 1980 that has been recognized by the UIL, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, and H-E-B as number nine out of the top ten high school football teams of all time in the State of Texas.
Pittsburg boys varsity basketball honored its seniors prior to Saturday’s rescheduled game against LIberty-Eylau. The Pirates unfortunately lost to the Leopards, 73-51 and remain in third place in district play. PIttsburg will travel to North Lamar Tuesday and will conclude the regular season at Pleasant Grove Friday.
The Pittsburg Pirates and Lady Pirates both opened the district slate with victories over New Diana.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirates placed fourth overall in the recent powerlifting match held at the Detroit Invitational on Jan. 27.
