Chili cook-off and fundraiser supports cancer survivor
Let’s paint Pittsburg pink! Every October, Pittsburg paints the town pink in support of those who are fighting breast cancer. For this year, the Paint Pitt Pink event raised a total of $1,008.68 to aid Shiles and Kellye in defraying mountainous expenses associated with cancer. In August of 2021, Kellye discovered that she had breast cancer. She fought through 28 chemotherapies and 28 radiation treatments and is now on the chemo pill. While she still has a little ways to go, Shiles said, they keep praying and going forward. Shiles and Kellye Hubbell arrived in Northeast Texas from Houston about 13 years ago. Kellye owned and operated a store in Mount Pleasant where she worked as an interior decorator.
