I’m not exactly sure what we’ll be doing for Thanksgiving this year. Stay home, heat up a small turkey for a few, boil a couple of sweet potatoes, maybe fix just one bowl of cranberry sauce? No matter what, I’m baking a pecan pie. Maybe even two.
If you ask people on the street what they are most thankful for this year, I am guessing that a large percentage would say they are thankful that the year 2020 is almost over.
OK, once your container plants experience a hard freeze, it’s time to start preparations for next spring. A f t e r the annuals and vegetables are removed, the question remains of what to do with the potting soil. Many dump it in the trash, while others spread it around the garden. Reusing in any form is good. Spreading used potting soil may not provide many nutrients to the garden but still provides spacing for water, air, and roots. A third solution, while requiring a little more work, provides a better solution. Try mixing the old mix with new potting mix.
So, I have a question for you all. How many of you have pets? I am thinking about maybe starting a Question and Answer Column for pets and calling it “Dear Tabby.” What do you think? (Yes, I know that I am a black cat and not considered a tabby cat, but I still think it works, don’t you?)
