The other day, my vehicle broke down on the side of the road. It was around 9 p.m., and I had two of my children with me. Try as I might, the car was not going to crank so I could get us home. So, there I sat, flashers on, waiting to see if anyone would stop.
Early voting began Monday for May 1 elections in county, city and school district elections.
I don’t have a hometown. Sure, I have a place of birth (Ft. Worth), places where I learned to swim and ride a bicycle (Garland), my high school alma mater (Grand Prairie), my college days (Commerce) – but not one of them do I consider my “hometown.”
The Bradford Family in South Carolina has been producing great watermelons for well over 150 years. During the time since, they’ve also grown okra, but they kept it in the family. In the 1950s, however, they began harvesting okra seed and provided it to feed stores in surrounding local counties. Seed was not made available outside this area.
