On Feb. 6, Pittsburg ISD head nurse Laurie Smith spoke to the Kiwanis Club about state and school procedures in various situations including physical and mental health, as well as her day-to-day challenges. “I think it surprises people in the public. You think that school nurses are bandaids and temperatures, but it’s so much more than that now,” Smith stated.
