Pies Tedford: Parking meters were installed about 1954. The intent of installing them was to prevent people from parking all day and taking up customer parking spaces. Prior to the days of Walmart and other large stores, retail was a strong activity in small town USA. The price to pay the meter was one cent for twelve minutes, a nickel for one hour, and a dime for two hours. Mr. Tedford would walk the streets and place tickets on cars with expired meter. Meters were removed several years ago.
