AUSTIN — In line with signals from the White House to restart the nation’s economy, Gov. Greg Abbott on April 17 issued executive orders to move the Lone Star State toward normalizing citizens’ activities during the COVID-19 crisis.
On April 17, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued three new executive orders aimed at re-opening portions of Texas amid the current COVID-19 pandemic. Those orders affected local businesses and schools, as well as the state’s parks.
On Friday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he had assembled a strike force to reopen the state. The team will create a plan for state-wide implementation and will announce it on April 27. Starting April 24, previously closed retail stores may reopen in a “Retail To-Go” capacity. “Under this model, reopened establishments are required to deliver items to customer’s cars, homes, or other locations to minimize contact,” stated the order.
Anyone traveling into Titus County for any reason will now be required to wear a mask. This comes after County Judge Brian Lee announced the county’s ninth and tenth cases. Judge Lee’s orders for masking and sanitizing went into effect at 12:01 A.M., April 21. Judge Lee issued a public press release video April 18, detailing the new ordinance.
