Titus Regional Medical Center resumes elective procedures and surgeries

On April 17, Governor Abbott announced the state restrictions previously placed on certain surgeries and procedures have been loosened, paving the way for patients to begin receiving needed care that had been postponed. As such, Titus Regional Medical Center (“TRMC”) is now safely beginning to care for patients who meet the criteria outlined in these directives as they resume these procedures on Monday, April 26th.

Research conducted, published and patented at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler has garnered attention from researchers across the globe for its potential to treat COVID-19. Though developed for treatment of other types of lung injury, including that due to influenza, the research provides a strong foundation for a possible treatment to protect against pulmonary injury caused by the novel coronavirus. This work was directed by Anna K. Kurdowska, PhD, MS.

Restaurants, retail to reopen at limited capacity

Last week, Governor Greg Abbot announced that he had formed a strike team to create a plan to reopen the state. On Monday, this plan was announced. All retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and malls will be allowed to reopen on Friday, May 1. These businesses must limit their capacity to 25% of their listed occupancy. In shopping malls, the food-court dining areas, play areas, and interactive displays must remain closed.
