PACT deadline approaching

Until 11:59 p.m. local time on September 30, 2023, Veterans who deployed to a combat zone, never enrolled in VA health care, and left active duty between September 11, 2001, and October 1, 2013, are eligible to enroll directly in VA health care. This special enrollment period gives Veterans who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other combat zones an opportunity to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for VA benefits.

Youngblood appointed local health authority

The Commissioners Court met in regular session on September 6, and approved the appointment of Dr. Tonya Youngblood, MD as the local health authority for Camp County through August 31, 2025. The requirements of the local health authority are rather light under normal conditions, unless a pandemic or some kind of disaster strikes, at which time the local health authority acts as liaison between county and state officials and performs other duties. Dr. Blair MacBeath held this position for several years before his retirement, and helped Camp County navigate its way through the Covid pandemic.
