Last evening, we received formal notification from the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) that Trauma Service Area G (TSA-G) meets the criteria laid out in Governor Abbott’s Executive Order as an “area with high hospitalization.” Camp County is one of 19 counties in TSA-G which has had “seven consecutive days in which the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity exceeds 15 percent.” This condition sets in place the Governor’s Executive order (GA-32) requirements that businesses previously allowed to operate at 75% capacity must reduce to 50% capacity and bars that do not derive at least 51% of their income from food sales may not open. This condition will remain in place until the COVID-19 hospitalization rate in TSA-G remains below 15% for seven consecutive days. Questions regarding applicability of GA-32 should be directed to the Office of the Governor, the Texas Department of State Health Services, or the appropriate section of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

This week, 1.4 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine were delivered in Texas and allotted to healthcare providers across the state. This vaccine is said to be a scientific breakthrough, especially given how quickly it was developed and studied. “Usually it takes years and years and years to develop a vaccine, but because of this new technology coming out of medical schools and academic medical centers, we now are able to develop vaccines that are safe and effective in a much more rapid fashion,” Dr. Kirk A. Calhoun, president of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and chairman of the board of UT Health East Texas said.

Brenda Barnwell began her endeavor into realty in 1978, after finding it necessary to earn a living to support not only herself but her two children. She found encouragement from her divorce attorney, who spoke with her about licensing. She later changed her course studies to real estate. During this time, she worked at Pittsburg ISD and sold real estate after school and on the weekends.
