Arts Council to host local talent search

On July 3, the Pittsburg-Camp County Arts Council will be holding a local talent search at the Pittsburg High School auditorium. Those who have talents such as singing, acting, dancing, playing an instrument, or any other artistic skill are encouraged to audition. The event starts at 10 a.m., and if chosen, performers will be invited to the live show for a crowd that evening.

Chamber to host annual Independence Day bash

In 2018, the Pittsburg-Camp County Chamber of Commerce began hosting the annual Independence Day firework show. Until 2020, July 4 was a day full of activities such as parachute bingo and games for families. Due to social distancing concerns, the fireworks will be the only attraction again this year, but the Chamber has ensured that the fireworks will be a showstopper.

Pittsburg Class of 2021 graduate Grace Neighbours is hanging up her Pirate pom-poms and putting on some serious Tiger Pride. Having cheered through junior high and high school, she has now won her place on the East Texas Baptist University cheer squad. Present with her for this moment are Neighbours’s mother Amanda Penny and cheer coaches Cheyenne Reynolds and Heather Lockler.
