Oct. 28 saw some powerful winds come through Camp County. About two in the afternoon, the wind was reaching 33 mph with gusts of 41 mph. Around 2:30 p.m., the Pittsburg Fire Department got a call to attend to a downed electrical wire on County Road 3540. The pole was rotted and as the transformer gracing the top of the pole made it topheavy, the wind won that round with a knockout.

iSOM Scrubs opened in Pittsburg on Sept. 25, 2021. Nakena Isom-James has been a nurse for over 10 years and has worked in healthcare since she was 17 years old. “Which means I’m always in scrubs. I realized there was a real need in our area over the past few years, and after working a lot during COVID I was able to embark on this journey,” she said.
Monica Penny, a native and graduate of Pittsburg high school, has had her hair stylist license for 30 years, but Be YOU tiful Salon didn’t open until May 2019. She loves hair: doing cuts and colors.
