Pirate soccer goes 2-0-1 at Tatum Tournament
After kicking off their season by finishing second in their own tournament, the Pittsburg Pirate soccer team went 2-0-1 in the Tatum Tournament this past weekend.
After kicking off their season by finishing second in their own tournament, the Pittsburg Pirate soccer team went 2-0-1 in the Tatum Tournament this past weekend.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirates met their match on Jan. 11 when they played the Paris Lady Cats. With a loss of 41-76, the Lady Pirates are currently in fifth place in district behind Gilmer, North Lamar, Liberty Eylau, and Paris.
Ninth grader Mason Knight placed first in his weight class of 126 pounds during the recent wrestling match at ArkLaTex Southern Classic and won a gold medal. In his first round, Knight won by fall at one minute 18 seconds over Jonathan Votaw (3- 15) from C.E. Byrd. Knight won his second round by fall at 41 seconds over Ethan Murphy (0-3) from Whitehouse. He won his third round by fall at two minutes 27 seconds over Michael Brame II (23-11) from Evangel Christian Academy.
Northeast Texas Community College Athletes will begin returning to the campus on Thursday, January 13 to begin to prepare for the Spring 2022 seasons.
PISD eighth graders competed in a Patriot’s Pen Essay contest for Veteran’s Day. The Veterans of Foreign Wars graded the essays and picked the top three winners. Left to right: Dwayne Boyd (Senior Vice Commander), Ana Kellum (3rd place - $50), Saniyah Taylor (2nd place - $75), Addison Hill (1st place - $100 and 3rd place in District), Eppie Lackey (VFW Auxiliary Past State President), Barbara Bailey (Auxiliary Secretary), and Lyman Duckwitz (Auxiliary President).
