Vehicle nearly burns at gas station

Lance Applegate and a passenger drove their White Buick to the EZ Mart in Pittsburg on Jan. 20. They went inside for cigarettes then came out and began to drive to the pump. “Something didn’t feel right,” Applegate said. They discovered the catalytic converter was so hot it appeared to be breaking off into shards and catching fire in the bumper. Pushing the car away from the fuel pumps and other people, they called the fire department. The vehicle sustained some severe injuries, though no one was hurt.
