With one game remaining in the district slate for the Pittsburg Lady Pirates, the team went into Friday’s game at home against Paris hoping to make Good Friday that much better.
The Pittsburg Pirate baseball team is living up to their team motto this season, finding themselves in a “battle” for a playoff spot in a district where even the defending state champions can find themselves in a dogfight.
The Pittsburg Rodeo had its humble beginnings in 1961, when the Pittsburg band boosters needed new uniforms and used the rodeo to raise the needed funds. James “Buck” Threadgill, 85, and his wife were sound asleep on Apr. 4 when the Pittsburg Police and Firefighters awakened them at about 3 a.m. banging on their window to inform them that their truck was on fire. The vehicle, a 2005 Dodge truck that still ran very well, was a total loss.
