The Rotary Club of Pittsburg hosted its annual First Responder Shrimp Boil event on Thursday, April 4th at Highland Club Lake. Rotarians and other volunteers cooked and provided desserts to honor those who serve the Camp County community.
Krystal Hosmer, executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties presented to the Camp County Commissioners Court last Wednesday to give an update about CASA’s 2023 overview. CASA, “Recruits and trains volunteers, members of [the community from these three counties], to speak up in court for the best interest of children to ensure they are placed in a safe, permanent, stable home,” Hosner says. Volunteers with CASA are screened, must pass background checks, and undergo 30 hours of pre-service training and maintain 12 hours of in-service training.
