The retirement of Jan Branch, after 41 years of serving the community, left a void to fill at Cypress Bank in Pittsburg. While interviewing a candidate to fill a role in the future Cypress Bank in Diana, Pittsburg native Matt Carpenter didn’t realize he was going to be asked to take up a position in his hometown.
During the regular meeting of the City Council on July 11, a second reading was held and adoption finalized on the ordinance to establish food establishment rules for the city. Roughly 60 letters were sent to the food establishments operating within Pittsburg inviting them to a meeting to discuss the possibility of these new rules. City manager Clint Hardeman stated that they had a “pretty good turnout and good reception” of this plan.
Students and advisors from across the state gathered in Fort Worth last week to attend the Texas Future Farmers of America State Convention, including members from the Pittsburg FFA Chapter. The con vention, which was held at the Fort Worth Convention Center July 11-15, featured keynote speakers and multiple presentations of awards for both individuals and chapters.
The Camp County Commissioners approved a 90-day burn ban unless conditions change. The Forest Service has encouraged this based on the dry conditions of the past several months and due to the fact that there is “no relief in sight” until closer to October.
