Pirates prepare to take to the field again
The Pittsburg Pirates are preparing to hit the decks for the 2022 football season. With Coach Abron as the captain of the team for the second year, hopes are riding high for a long and exciting season.
CASA to party like it’s 1952
Get your pleated skirts and trousers ready, and kick off those shoes at CASA of Titus, Camp, and Morris Counties’ second annual 50s Sock Hop event. The event will be held on Saturday, August 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Civic Center.
PCCAC Theatre Director enjoys second success
The Pittsburg-Camp County Arts Council presented Steel Magnolias over the weekend in Pittsburg. Directed by Sheila Brown and played by a cast of seven talented ladies, the performance, written by Robert Harling after the loss of his sister, is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. All the “important” women in town come to Truvy’s to have their hair done while catching up on the local news. While battling the inevitable “life”, these ladies show their mettle by encouraging one another through the bad and enjoying the good together.
Producing power for forty-five years and counting
The Welsh Power Plant celebrated their 45th Anniversary on July 19. Dedicated on July 29, 1977 after less than four years of construction, it was the first plant in the SWEPCO network’s history to be run on coal instead of natural gas, the first shipments of coal being delivered from Wyoming in 1976.
