Local author does it again
Ian Griffin, the local multi-awardwinning author, has a new book that will be released in October 2024. It is called The Widow’s Savior. It is the first non-spy book from Ian that doesn’t take place in Pittsburg. Instead, it takes place in a fictitious East Texas town named Bennett Town. It is the sixth book released by Ian, since 2022. It can be found on Amazon and most venues. The Widow’s Savior is available in Kindle, Paperback, and Hardcover versions.
School Board recognizes Gold Awardees
Pittsburg ISD School Board held its monthly meeting for September, and took the time to recognize certain maintenance/transportation department staff at Pittsburg Independent School District. The Pirate Gold Award was given to Nora Manley, Tabitha Norris, Anita Henderson, and Vince Julian. The awards were presented by Kenneth Shelton, “Just to say thank you for all the hard work that you do.”
Feasibility study deemed flawed by experts
The proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir has been opposed by water planners in Northeast Texas since it first became an issue more than 20 years ago. Region D (Northeast Texas) has repeatedly fought and lobbied against the efforts of Region C (Dallas area) water planners to keep the reservoir out of the state water plan, and local landowners and businessmen like Ward Timber have gone as far as filing, and winning, a lawsuit to block the reservoir’s construction.
