Gordon Madison American Legion Post 422 participates in the Texas Boys State program

Each year Post 422 in Pittsburg works with the local high school counselor to select high school juniors as candidates to take part in Boys State. Post 422 approved Connor Gilbert to participate in Boys State. This program is for one week on the University of Texas Austin campus. Post 422 covers the cost of the program plus extra funds for spending.

Over the weekend, The Whatley Center at Northeast Texas Community College hosted the Mount Pleasant Community Orchestra’s first concert of their fourth season. The concert, entitled “A Knight Among the Stars,” featured music from the films “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Interstellar,” “Apollo 13,” and the “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” franchises.
