Firefighters battle local blaze, elements

Mar. 18 was a bit windy, and a breeze coupled with rather dry spring weather encouraged a fire to get out of control and spread quickly over several acres in a nearby field. The fire department was still fighting both the breeze and the flames when they arrived; they would put out a flame only to have it re-ignite as a result of the wind and smoldering grass. Homer B. Birdine

Homer B. Birdine passed away March 17, 2022 at Lakeview Rehab and Healthcare Center aka Trinity Mission Nursing & Rehab in Winnsboro, Texas at the age of 85. His graveside services will be Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Cemetery, Leesburg, with Rev. Terry Moton as eulogist under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Pittsburg.

Ronnie Lee Stegman

Ronnie Lee Stegman, 75, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, surrounded by family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A lifelong Texan, Ronnie Lee was born June 5, 1946, in Dallas to the late Sophie Vita and Delmar Stegman. A memorial and celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Lone Star, Texas. In lieu of flowers, consider making a tribute donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, or donate to your favorite charity.
