Vietnam Era Veterans recognized at American Legion Post 422
On Monday, September 23rd, the Martha Laird Chapter, NSDAR, from Mt. Pleasant presented the American Legion Post 422’s program, Vietnam War Commemoration. The quest speakers were Lani Hightower and she was assisted by Kathryn Cash, Linda Cady, and Diane Patrick. Ms. Hightower gave the history of the Vietnam War (1964-1975). She highlighted that DAR (Daughters of American Revolution) organization nationwide was recognizing the 50-year anniversary of the war ending. The purpose of the program was to recognize, thank and honor United States military veterans who served during the Vietnam War Era. Post 422 had eleven veterans eligible for this award. Each veteran was presented with a certificate and Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. Those eligible were: Roy Curlin, Victor Daigre, Robert Dickerson, Franklin Harrison, William Guy, Roger Lothrop, Jack Moore, Ruben Page, Jim Pendley, Anton Peterson, and Raymond Ryan.
Rotarians donate headphones to third grade students
Text On September 18, the Pittsburg Rotary Club donated headphones to every student in the third grade at Pittsburg Elementary School. This is an annual donation to ensure students will be able to use their headphones with their school issued Chromebooks.
City Council thanks employees for 5 years of service
The Pittsburg City Council met for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting for the month of September. Here, they recognized two employees, Maricela Fuentes and Joel Wade, each for serving the city for five years.
