During the ongoing and unpredictable COVID-19 crisis, many East Texas businesses have been hard financially. In order to help meet the short-term needs of businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas (BBB) has set up the Community Relief Fund and is urging all East Texas residents to donate.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help break the cycle of abuse and neglect, through supporting children and families.
With schools closed due to COVID-19 and outings being limited, parents and members of the community have taken on the task of creating a pastime for children of the area. “Bear Hunts” have been trending all over the nation in previous months, and now Camp County has its own. Businesses and homes have stuffed or printed bears placed in front windows, on porches, and on lawns around the city. Parents can drive their children around the area to spot and count each bear left for them.
