City Council approves 2023/2024 budget and tax rate

The Council approved the adoption of the proposed 2023/2024 budgets for both the City and the Economic Development Corporation, as well as the proposed 2023 tax rate during their regular meeting on September 11. This tax rate will remain the same as for 2022 -- a rate of $0.528488 per $100 value. But because of the increase in property evaluations, this is effectively a 3.4990 percent increase which will raise more funds for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. Thus, taxes on a $100,000 home will be increased by approximately $13.27.
