Silent Knights show up to Bike Night hosted by Christian Motorcyclists Association

The Silent Knights is a 3C, Charity Cycle Club, with the main focus being on helping local kids. The founder started the Silent Knights with inspiration from his parents and the village that he saw them create growing up. From his mom owning a daycare and being an educator, his dad coaching youth sports, and both leading youth groups together for local churches, they opened his eyes and heart to the realities that families don’t always look the same and sometimes need help. He also had some hardships early-on with being bullied due to being Dyslexic, causing difficulties with reading; that helped shape him to always attempt to stand up for the underdog. His own experiences with being bullied alongside witnessing his parents open their home to local kids and help abroad with mission trips, helped pave the way to start his own village with like-minded men and their families that don’t necessarily fit the mold of what one may consider the look of a charity. The Silent Knights raise money year-round by having runs and raffles during various events. Their biggest run is in April, The Daisy Run, inspired by a sweet girl with Autism that lives in Mount Vernon, Texas. The Silent Knights love helping with anything throughout the year that could help the life of a child and their family, but especially during the Christmas Season. During what should be the happiest time of the year, parents are often met with added stresses, so there is something extra-special in hopefully taking off some of the pressure that comes with possibly having to choose between buying presents or necessities like clothes and groceries.

ETCOG receives Impact Award

The East Texas Council of Governments (ETCOG) has received a 2023 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for its Regional Broadband Planning Initiative. ETCOG’s grassroots Broadband Planning Initiative involved working with each county over the past three years to identify and prioritize critical broadband needs, resulting in a comprehensive plan consisting of up to six projects per county, along with the necessary budgets to seek funds for implementation.
