Lady Pirates Spread Holiday Cheer at Southern Wind Manor

The Pittsburg High School Lady Pirates basketball team recently visited with residents at Southern Wind Manor in Pittsburg. Southern Wind Manor is an assisted living community for seniors needing help with daily living. The Lady Pirates spent time with residents discussing the current basketball season, including their Silver Division Championship at the Frankston Invitational this past weekend. They shared that their ranking now stands at 12-3. Some residents also shared some of their own Pittsburg High School memories when they participated in Pirate sports. They thanked the Lady Pirates for coming and that they enjoyed having them visit.

Rotary District Governor Speaks at Pittsburg Rotary Meeting

Rotary District 5830 Governor, Damon Donnell, who lives in Athens, Texas, was the speaker at the Pittsburg Rotary Club at their noon meeting onDecember10,2025. Mr.Donnellshared that there are 45 clubs in the 23 counties in this District . In 2024 this District raised $452,000 toward special programs. He spoke about this year’s theme of “Unite for Good”, addressing the programs being emphasized for 2025. He said, “Together we envision a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change globally, within our communities, and within ourselves.”

Bob Sandlin Park Celebrates Christmas in the Park

On December 12 and 13, 2025, Bob Sandlin State Park hosted the 13th annual Nativity story reenactment and camp site decorating contest. According to Park staff, who collected the can goods entry fee, over 1,000 attended on Friday night and close to 1,200 attended on Saturday night. There were over 90 campsite and park open areas decorated in lights and Christmas scenes. Calvary Bible Church’s Vickie Burns, Women’s Ministry Leader, at Calvary Bible Church, was director of this year’s production. They presented the story of the Nativity.with a 10 minute guided walking tour through the town of Bethlehem, past the filled up Inn, listening to the shepherds and seeing the angels, and finally the manger scene. Justin Kruse, whose mother saw this pageant for the first time, shared that she was impressed with being able to walk through and feel she was a part of the live story.
