Herschel’s Owner talks Franchising

The Rotary Club of Pittsburg met at noon on Wednesday, April 1, in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church. First discussion of business was the scholarship program for local high school seniors. The Scholarship Committee discussed giving $1,000 scholarships to as many seniors as they could. During the meeting, the basket was passed and the $6,000 current amount was increased to almost $9,000 by the end of the meeting.

URECC Upgrading

The 2026 annual meeting of the Upshur Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (URECC) met at the Upshur Rural headquarters in Gilmer Texas, on Thursday, April 2, at 1:00 for a two-hour meeting. URECC provides power to over 51,000 meters across a ten-county area in Northeast Texas. The cooperative mainly serves Upshur, Smith, Gregg, Harrison, and Wood counties, along with surrounding areas, including parts of Camp, Cass, Marion, Rusk, and Titus counties. For eighty-nine years the group has met to discuss how they have done over the past year and what they anticipate achieving over the next twenty years. There were 356 co-op members in attendance at the meeting.
