The Pittsburg Pirate baseball team swept Paris last week to clinch third place in District 14-4A with a 6-6 record as they improved to 12-8 on the season. Coach Juan Perez’s Pirates will open the post-season against Farmersville (15-13) later next week. The Farmers compete in District 13-4A and still have two games against Quinlan-Ford this week.
The Pittsburg Lady Pirates clinched third place in District 14-4A with a 4-3 win over visiting North Lamar in the season finale back on Tuesday, April 15 and will open post-season play against Quinlan-Ford in a three-game bi-district series at Grand Saline. Game 1 will take place on Friday, Apr. 25 at 5:30 p.m. with Game 2 to take place 30 minutes following Game 1. If necessary, Game 3 will be on Saturday at 12 noon inn Grand Saline.
The Pittsburg City Council held their latest meeting on Monday, April 14 and heard a presentation by Brayden Hooper with Camp County EMS and Camp County Sheriff’s Office. Hooper explained the functionality and features a first responder drone would provide for the city and Camp County.
The Pittsburg Lions Club held their latest meeting on Thursday, April 10. At the meeting, guest speaker Rachelle Collier shared about her business, Ruff’n It Ranch Pet Resort.
The Pittsburg High School Forestry team placed 4th at the Area Contest, earning a spot at the State Contest. Connor Gilbert placed 1st overall with a personal best of 88 points, and Kayden Posey placed 10th overall with a personal best of 73 points.
