Pittsburg ISD seeking nominations for G/T

Pittsburg ISD will be seeking nominations for the G/T (Gifted and Talented) Program. The nomination period will begin Feb. 1 and close Feb. 26. Nomination forms will be available in the office of each campus and should be returned to the campus no later than Feb. 26. Testing will be conducted before the end of the current school year and qualified nominees will be placed in the program at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. Pittsburg ISD does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex or disablity in providing education services.

Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant winners named

The NTCC Foundation is happy to announce that nine NTCC employees have been awarded funds through the 2020- 2021 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 15 outstanding applications. Six were funded by the grant and three received private donations. The total for all funded projects was $11,500. The Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that fall outside the institution’s regular budget. Each year, NTCC full-time employees may apply for the approximately $8,500 available. Projects are reviewed and selected by the volunteer members of the Whatley Employee Enhancement Committee.

Burns honored for decades of service

Retiring Camp County Tax Assessor-Collector Gale Burns was recently honored by members of the Commissioners Court and her fellow employees. Gale has served the citizens of Camp County since 1976 and as elected Tax Assessor Collector since 2000. Her dedication to her office and the citizens will be greatly missed. Camp County Judge AJ Mason said to Burns of her retirement, “Congratulations on your retirement and we wish you and Dwight the very best!” COURTESY PHOTO
